Amulets: An ornament or a small piece of Jewelry thought to give protection against evil, danger or disease.
Ongoing custom and tradition Regarding Amulets:
"Are you sick? Get an Amulet to cure sickness, it is working for everyone." " Are you searching for job? I know one Bapu/person who give an Amulet by which you can immediately get the job"
This is the suggestion of many people nowadays.
Because of this belief, people have more trust in wearing the amulets than to trust Allah. So indirectly people are doing Shirk, which is a major sin.
Hadeeth on Amulets in Islam:
It was narrated from ' Uqbah ibn 'Aamir al- Juhani that a group came to the Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h.) [to swear their allegiance (bay'ah) to him]. He accepted the bay'ah of nine of them but not of one of them. They said, " O Messenger of Allah, you accepted the bay'ah of nine but not of this one." He said, " He is wearing an amulet." The man put his hand (in his shirt) and took it off, then he (the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) accepted his bay'ah. He said, ' Whoever wears an amulet has committed shirk (associated partner with Allah s.w.t.)
(Narrated by Ahmad, 16969)
